Getting Started with 2 Big Data Projects: Data Warehouse Optimization and a Managed Data Lake
Bertrand Cariou, Senior Director, Solution Product Management, Informatica
To leverage Big Data for greater business agility and innovation, you need to speed up the process of finding, accessing, and preparing Big Data for analysis — while still controlling costs in your data warehouse environment. Find out how Hadoop lets you redistribute data storage and processing to optimize for cost, performance, and scalability by creating a new data management infrastructure called a Data Lake.
The Business Case for Hadoop-based Data Management
Greg Jones Director, Federal Information Management, Deloitte Consulting LLP
The technologies related to so called “big data” offer organizations new and exciting opportunities to use large data sets and conduct a wide range of business analysis. In the past, this scale of analysis was out of reach except for those very few with very deep pockets and specially skilled “data scientists”. While this new analytic frontier is exciting and even game-changing, there are benefits associated with these big data technologies that could offer significant near-term benefits in addition to those directly related to analytics. The most immediate areas of potential benefits are to augment your existing data management architecture with the new technologies to potentially provide cost savings, organizational agility and ability to respond quickly to change. During this discussion, Deloitte offers its experience and recommendations for organizations looking to apply Big Data infrastructure to save money and enable business adaptability.
